Dresses made of Liberty Art fabrics

Dresses made of Liberty fabric have just arrived to our shop:
We love Liberty prints and in this post we would like to tell little bit more about the story behind Liberty's new collection.

The AW13 Liberty Art Fabrics collection is inspired by the poem ‘The Earthly Paradise’ by William Morris. Morris was inspired and influenced by the charm, colour, sound, scenery, fragrance and beauty of the visible world. Liberty's fabric collection centres around these senses, focusing on Icelandic adventures, audio prints, tattoos on Tana Lawn, almost edible conversationals and fragrant florals, wrapping up with a sixth sense; a sense of Liberty.

Katherine - Cotton dress made of Liberty art fabric "Kilburn Rose".

Award winning actress Tamsin Greig was an obvious choice to represent the Audio fabric stories because of her beautiful and memorable voice. Tamsin visited the Liberty Archive and selected three archival prints from the late 80s and early 90s. These depicted roses, leaves and a fairy tale wall. The inspiration for Kilburn Rose came from Tamsin’s childhood rose garden and her love of fairytales, specifically those that featured a tower shrouded in wild yet beautiful roses.

This print was created by a famous London based tattoo maker Mo Coppoletta. Mo has an international reputation for unique and exquisite tattoos, so was the perfect choice to represent this collection inspired by the art of touch.

Daydream is hand painted by Mo who was inspired by William Morris and the Arts and Crafts movement, a style that represents Liberty, as it is a Mecca for Arts and Crafts visuals. Peonies were chosen as they are known as 'the king of flowers' in Eastern tradition and defined as the flower of riches and honour bringing health, wealth and wisdom.

"Manon" - "boatneck" dress made of Liberty art fabric "Growing fonder".

The print was created as a collaboration with a famous London tattoe artist - Mo Coppoletta. The print explores and re-interprets the famous Liberty peacock feather, it was the first design Mo created for Liberty, so he wanted to adapt a subject that defined Liberty at a glance. Mo feels Liberty epitomises English style, rooting itself in its turn of the century heritage.

"Josephine" - midi dress made of Liberty art fabric "Wild at heart".

The print was designed by Amanda Harrison, a student at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and re-worked in the Liberty Design Studio. The design is named after Nikki Tibbles of Wild at Heart, who was a judge of the CSM collaboration and owns the celebrated florist of the same name.

"Ida" - quipao dress made of Liberty art fabric "Stanley".

"Stanley" is an audio print. It is created from all the ingredients in Byredo's Mr Marvellous, a fragrance launched in 2011 with top notes of petit grain and neroli, middle notes of lavender and bamboo and base notes of virginia and amber.

Mrs Pomeranz AW2013-2014

We are happy to present Mrs Pomeranz's FW2013 collection. Our biggest collection ever with 23 new garments.
We are very excited to introduce some new cuts: silhouette dresses, pencil dresses, skirts and jackets.
This season we used tartan and check a lot,our favourite Liberty prints and, of course, our own prints created by Genevieve Godbout: mystical grey and blue flowers printed on lightweight organza, twill silk and cotton fabric. The inspiration behind the collection is the "Pleasure garden" episode in the Fritz Lang's 1927 film "Metropolis". We hope that you will like the dresses.
